GIS Studio Update: Drawing Tools, Measurement and Radius Buffers

Draw points, lines and polygons directly on the map, measure distance and area, and create radius buffer zones — all saved as reusable layers.

New GIS Studio Tools

Drawing Tools

You can now create features directly on the map instead of only importing files. The GIS Studio Draw tool supports three modes:

  • Point — click anywhere to drop a point, saved instantly
  • Line — click to add vertices, then click Finish Shape
  • Polygon — same as lines, automatically closes the shape when finished

Every drawn shape can be undone mid-drawing with Ctrl+Z, or cancelled entirely with Esc. Once you are happy with your shapes, click Save to convert them into a proper layer with full export support.

Measurement Tool

The Measure tool calculates distance as you click points along a path, shown live in a popup and the status bar. Once you place a third point, it also calculates the enclosed area — useful for quick site or plot measurements without leaving the map.

Radius Buffers

Click anywhere with the Radius tool active to drop a circular buffer zone at any size in kilometers. Useful for service-area analysis, proximity checks, or catchment visualization. Buffers can be saved as a real polygon layer, fully exportable like any other layer.

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Ctrl+Z — undo the last point while drawing or measuring
  • Esc — cancel the current tool entirely
